Generation 1

JOHN EVANS was born about 1792 in Bidston, Wirral. He married HANNAH DODD, daughter of THOMAS DODD and MARY, on the 17 th March, 1817 in Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool. Hannah had been baptised on the 20th October 20, 1794, St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston. John and Hannah settled in Moreton to raise their family.

Hannah was buried on the 14th July, 1867 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston.

THOMAS EVANS (JOHN1) was born in Moreton and was baptised on the 20th July, 1817 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston. He married ELIZABETH EDWARDS, daughter of THOMAS and ELIZABETH EDWARDS . Elizabeth was baptised on the 17th March, 1817 in St. Barnabas Parish Church, Bromborough, Cheshire. Thomas was a master boot and shoe maker. In 1851, he employed a 17 year old apprentice, Joseph Forshaw.

Thomas died in Moreton on the 6th July, 1883 and was buried in Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton. Elizabeth died on the 12th February, 1887 and was buried with her husband.

MARGARET EVANS (JOHN1) was born in Moreton and baptised on the 6th December, 1837 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston. She married ROBINSON BENNETT, son of ROBINSON BENNETT and MARY, on the 30th March, 1855 in St. George C of E Church, Derby Square, Liverpool.

ELIZABETH EVANS (THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born on the 8th October, 1841 in Moreton and was baptised on the 12th September, 1841 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston. Elizabeth married Mr. McNAUGHTON, who died sometime before 1877.

The child of ELIZABETH EVANS and McNAUGHTON is:

  • WILLIAM THOMAS McNAUGHTON, b. Abt. 1865, Liverpool; occ. Insurance clerk; d.October 28, 1892 aged 27 years; bur. Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton with grandparents.
  • As a widow, Elizabeth married JAMES STANLEY, son of JAMES STANLEY and MARGARET SUTTON, on the 18th April, 1877 in Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool

    WILLIAM EVANS (THOMAS2, (JOHN1) was born in Moreton and was baptised on the 16th July, 1848 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston. He married ELIZABETH ANN and they settled in Liverpool. William was a licensed victualer in the Victoria Public House, Fox Street, Liverpool. In 1881, Hannah Bennett, daughter of ROBINSON BENNETT and MARGARET EVANS, lodged there.
