JAMES HIBBERT (JOHN1) was born in about 1819 in Ashton under Lyne. He married JANE BROADBENT, daughter of JOHN BROADBENT, on the 23rd November, 1841 in St. Mary Parish Church, Oldham. They were both living in Oldham, Lancashire, at the time of their marriage, but went to Ashton under Lyne in time for the birth of their child, Margaret. After several years, they settled in Stalybridge, Cheshire. James was brick layer at the time of his marriage, but later a machine grinder/ engineer. Jane was a cotton weaver.

MARGARET HIBBERT (JAMES2, JOHN1) was born on the 7th April, 1843 in Ashton under Lyne and was baptised on the 7th May, 1843 at St. Michael and All Angels Parish Church, Ashton under Lyne. She married JOSEPH GLEDHILL. They settled in Stalybridge and later moved to 646, Manchester Road, Failsworth, Lancashire, where Joseph worked in the cotton mill as an engine driver.

The children of MARGARET HIBBERT and JOSEPH GLEDHILL are:

  1. JAMES HIBBERT GLEDHILL, b. 1868, Stalybridge, Cheshire.

  2. ALICE GLEDHILL, b. Abt. 1880, Failsworth, Lancashire.

ROBERT HIBBERT (JAMES2, JOHN1) was born about 1847 in Ashton under Lyne He married MARY ANN WARD in 1870 in St. Mark Church, Bredbury. As a young man he was a winder's apprentice, but by 1881, he was a mechanic at Iron Works.

The children of ROBERT HIBBERT and MARY WARD are:

  1. JANE ELLEN HIBBERT, b. 1870, Newton, Cheshire.

  2. MARGARET ANN HIBBERT, b. 1872, Stalybridge, Cheshire.

  3. MARY ELIZABETH HIBBERT, b. 1874, Stalybridge.

  4. FRANCES EMMA HIBBERT, b. 1880, Stalybridge.

THOMAS HIBBERT (JAMES2, JOHN1) was born in 1854 in Stalybridge, Cheshire. He married ELIZABETH QUINN, on the 28th June, 1875 in St. George Parish Church, Hyde, Cheshire. Thomas' brother in law, John Saxon, was a witness at their wedding. Elizabeth was the daughter of THOMAS QUINN of Dukinfield, Cheshire.

After their marriage they resided with Elizabeth's father at 190 High Street, Dukinfield, which was a few doors away from Thomas' sister, Hannah Saxon. Thomas worked as an engineer and Elizabeth worked in the cotton mill as a frame tenter. Later Thomas worked as a turner.

The child of THOMAS HIBBERT and ELIZABETH QUINN is:

    MARY JANE HIBBERT, b. 1881.

JANE ELIZABETH HIBBERT (JAMES2, JOHN1) was born 1865 in Stalybridge. She lived with her sister, Margaret, in Failsworth, Cheshire, immediately before she married. Jane married JONATHAN LISTER on the 5th April 1884 at St. Paul Parish Church, Stalybridge. They had four children but only JAMES LISTER survived childhood.

Jonathan died in 1895 and was buried at St. Paul Parish Church, Stalybridge on the 23rd October, 1895. Jane Elizabeth then married James Broadbent at St. Paul Parish Church, Stalybridge on the 15th October, 1898.
