Generation 1

JAMES WILCOCK (JAMES5, JAMES4, WILLIAM3, ROBERT2, JOHN1) was born on the 16th March, 1868 in 26, Greengate Street, Barrow in Furness, Lancashire. He travelled with his parents to Liverpool in the 1870's, where he met MARY JANE HELSBY He married her on the 6th December, 1886 in St. John the Baptist Church, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. Mary, known as Cissy as a girl, was the daughter of JOHN HELSBY and MARY COWAP, who lived in Wellington Road, Toxteth Park, Liverpool.

James was a joiner and coffin maker. He was blinded in an accident and took up basket making. James and Mary had several addresses in Toxteth Park and then settled in Boyton Street, Edgehill, Liverpool, where James eventually died. He was buried with his parents on the 18th July, 1944 at Toxteth Cemetery, Smithdown Road, Liverpool. Mary was buried on the 22nd October, 1949 with her husband.

JAMES HENRY EDWARD WILCOCK (JAMES6, JAMES5, JAMES4, WILLIAM3, ROBERT2, JOHN1) was born on the 22nd February, 1887 at 45, Wellington Road, Toxteth Park, Liverpool and baptised on the 4th May, 1887 at St. Cleopas Church, Toxteth Park; He married ESTHER JANE GRAVES, daughter of WILLIAM GRAVES and ELIZA JANE ELLISON, on the 19th April, 1908 in St. John the Baptist Church, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. Henry Ernest and Ada Graves Witnessed their marriage. They lived in Toxteth Park and then Edgehill, Liverpool, where they brought up their family. James was a bolt maker and also served in the 5th Battalion of Kings Liverpool Regiment.

Esther died in child birth and was buried on the 21st March, 1923 in Springwood Cemetery, Allerton, Liverpool. James remarried in 1939 to DORIS MILLS in St. Cleopas Church, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. He died about 1948.

She married THOMAS PEATE STRANGE, the son of ANDREW and JANE STRANGE in 1911 in St. Paul Church, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. Thomas was baptised on the 19th February, 1890 in St. John the Baptist Church, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. They went to live at 72, Branstree Avenue, Norris Green, Liverpool after they were married. Thomas was a mill hand and a paint grinder after he came out of the army.

She married JOSEPH GLOVER WOMACK, son of MARY and ARTHUR WOMACK, a basket maker, on the 25th October, 1919 in St Dunstan Church, Edgehill, Liverpool. Joseph was born on the 10th August, 1896 and was a foreman pipe layer for Liverpool Corporation.

Mary died on the 19th April, 1973 in Liverpool and was buried on the 26th April, 1973 in West Derby Cemetery. Joseph died a few years later on the 24th February, 1977.

Henry was a corporation worker.

WILLIAM WILCOCK (JAMES6, JAMES5, JAMES4, WILLIAM3, ROBERT2, JOHN1) was born on the 30th June, 1909 in Liverpool. He married CLARA SUTCLIFFE, daughter of JOSEPH and SARAH ANN SUTCLIFFE nee SAXON, on the 21st December, 1935. William was a boiler maker's riveter. He died on the 7th April, 1944 in 13 , Oak Street, Wavertree, Liverpool, where he had lived after his marriage. He was buried on the 12th April, 1944 at Allerton Cemetery, Springwood, Liverpool. As a widow, Clara moved to Halewood with her son Edward. Clara was buried with the husband on the 30th October, 1997.
