Generation 1

JOHN BENNETT was born about 1692. He married ALICE SHERLOCK, daughter of THOMAS and MARGERY SHERLOCK , on the 12th October, 1723 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey, Wirral. They reared their family in Poulton cum Seacombe, where John worked as a boatman. Later in life, they moved to West Kirby, Cheshire.

Alice died in West Kirby, but was brought back to Wallasey to be buried in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey on the 6th August, 1769. John was buried on the 16th November, 1776 with his wife.

JOHN BENNETT (JOHN1) was born in Poulton cum Seacombe and baptised on the 20th November, 1728 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey. He married ELIZABETH ROBINSON, daughter of JOSEPH and MARTHA ROBINSON , on the 20th June, 1749 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey.

They settled in Wallasey after their marriage, where John worked as a cordwainer. John died February 1806 and was buried on the 17th February, 1806 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey. Elizabeth died in Seacombe aged 84 years and was buried on the 12th April, 1814 with her husband.

SAMUEL BENNETT (JOHN2, JOHN1) was born in Wallasey and baptised on the 20th February, 1749/50 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey. He married MARTHA ROBINSON , daughter of DANIEL ROBINSON and ANN WHARTON, on the 16 th February, 1778 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey.

Samuel and Martha brought up their family in Wallasey, where Samuel was a husbandman. Samuel died in Wallasey and was buried on the 12th February, 1830 in St. Hilary Parish Church, Wallasey. Martha died some years later and was buried with her husband on the 31st July, 1843.

SAMUEL BENNETT (DANIEL4, SAMUEL3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was baptised on the 21st December, 1804. He married ANN DAWSON, daughter of NATHANIEL and MARY DAWSON, on the 10th April, 1828 at St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston, Wirral.

Samuel resided in West Kirby at the time of his marriage and Ann lived in Bidston. After their marriage they settled in Greasby where Samuel farmed. By 1851 they were living at Farm House, Wervin.
