Generation 1

JOHN STANLEY (JAMES9, JOHN8, ROBERT7, ROBERT6, JOHN5, HENRY4, GERARD3, HENRY2, RICHARD1) was born on the 18th March, 1840 in Leasowe, Wallasey, Cheshire. He married ELIZABETH GODWIN on the 13th June, 1867 at St. Nicholas Parish Church, Liverpool. Elizabeth was the daughter of JOSEPH GODWIN and widow of JOHN MEADOWS, son of GEORGE MEADOWS and ELLEN JACKSON, who was baptised on the 2nd March, 1835 in St. Oswald Parish Church, Bidston and died on the 21st July, 1865 age 30 years. John Meadows was buried in Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton.

John and Elizabeth Stanley were living in Liverpool at the time of their marriage, but moved to Great Meolse. Later they went to live at Carr Lane Farm, Saughall Massie, Wirral. Elizabeth died on the 23rd December, 1910 and was buried at Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton, Wirral. John died two years later on the 26th December, 1912 in Saughall Massie and was buried with his wife.

JAMES STANLEY (JOHN10, JAMES9, JOHN8, ROBERT7, ROBERT6, JOHN5, HENRY4, GERARD3, HENRY2, RICHARD1) was born 1868 in Great Meolse and was baptised on the 8th March, 1868, Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton. He married ANNIE JORDAN and worked as a market gardener. He served in the Boer War and received a medal. James died 1944.

ERNEST STANLEY (JOHN10, JAMES9, JOHN8, ROBERT7, ROBERT6, JOHN5, HENRY4, GERARD3, HENRY2, RICHARD1) was born in Great Meolse, but was baptised on the 10 th November, 1872 at Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton.

Ernest married his cousin, EMILY PARKINSON on the 4th June, 1913 in Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton. Emma was the daughter of ELIZABETH STANLEY and JOHN PARKINSON. She was born in Moreton and baptised at Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton on the 23rd August 23, 1874. Emma lived at Church Farm, Moreton, before she was married and Ernest farmed at Carr Farm, Saughall Massie, which was his grandmother's farm.

Ernest died on the 20th May, 1936 and was buried at Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton. Emily died on January 18, 1957 and was buried with her husband.

    HENRY STANLEY (JOHN10, JAMES9, JOHN8, ROBERT7, ROBERT6, JOHN5, HENRY4, GERARD3, HENRY2, RICHARD1) was born in Great Meolse and was baptised on the 3rd January, 1883 at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Hoylake. He married MATHILDA JANE PROBERT on the 21st May, 1900 at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Hoylake. Mathilda was the daughter of EVANS JOHN PROBERT and was born abt. 1884. They were both living in Lee Road, Hoylake at the time of their marriage.

    Henry died on the 14th July, 1957 and was buried at Christ Church Parish Church, Moreton. Mathilda died on the 19th June, 1972 and was buried with her husband.

    The child of HENRY STANLEY and MATHILDA is:

  • LUCY STANLEY, b. 1909; d. January 15, 1911; bur. January 1911, Christchurch Parish Church, Moreton.
