Generation 1

THOMAS ASHTON (JOSEPH 1) was born in Eastham, Cheshire and was baptised on the 16th June, 1771 in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. He married MARY JELLICOE on the 16th January, 1791 in St. Mary and St. Helen Parish Church, Neston, Cheshire. Mary was born about 1769. She and Thomas started married life in Little Neston, then moved to Ness, Cheshire.

Mary was buried on the 25th November, 1834 in St. Mary and St. Helen Parish Church , Neston, Cheshire and Thomas was buried with her on the 19th October, 1842.

ENOCH ASHTON (THOMAS2, JOSEPH1) was born 1795 in Ness and baptised on the 6th December, 1795 in St. Mary and St. Helen Parish Church, Neston. He married MARGARET, who was born in Buckley, Flintshire. Enoch was an agricultural worker and later a farmer.

Enoch died on the 22th April, 1860 in Overpool, Cheshire, and was buried on the 25th April, 1860 at St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. After Enoch's death, Margaret went to live with her daughter, Martha, in Hoylake. She died on the April 29th 1871 in Hoylake, Wirral, but was buried on the 2th May, 1871 with her husband in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham.

THOMAS ASHTON (ENOCH3, THOMAS2, JOSEPH1) was born 1827 in Pooltown, Eastham and was baptised on the 28th January in 1827 in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. He married ANN and they lived around Netherpool, Cheshire. Ann was born about 1826 in Overpool.

Thomas died on the 9th August, 1893 in Netherpool and was buried in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. Ann died some years later on the 2nd March, 1917 also in Netherpool and was buried with her husband.

JOHN ASHTON (ENOCH3, THOMAS2, JOSEPH1) was born 1834 in Overpool and baptised on the 29 th May, 1834 in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. He married MARY, who was born in Flintshire about 1832. They lived in Ellesmere Port, then Whitby, Cheshire, after they married. John was a porter in 1861.

Mary died on the 11th January, 1918 and was buried in St. Mary Parish Church, Eastham. John died on the 15 th February, 1923 and was buried with his wife.
