JAMES WALTON married MARY, who was buried on the 8th February, 1740 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead, Wirral. His second marriage was to ELLEN WOODS in Walton on the Hill Church, Liverpool on the 30th June, 1742. Ellen and James had a a number of children. Ellen died and was buried on the 26th February, 1755 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead. He then married MARY ROBINSON on the 10th December, 1760 in Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool. An interesting fact is that Daniel Robinson was a wedding witness at the marriage of James grandson, John Sutton. At the baptisms of Mary Robinson's daughters, Ellen and Sarah, Mary was called Marren, but Maria in James' will.

James and his wives lived at The Grange, otherwise called Grange House, in the township of Grange, Claughton. He died in this house and was buried on the 4th October, 1767 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead. James left a will.

Generation 2

ROBERT WALTON (JAMES1) was born in The Grange, Grange, Wirral and was baptised on the 26th June, 1732 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead. He married ELIZABETH DEANE of Arrowe, Wirral on the 10th July, 1755 in Holy Cross Parish Church, Woodchurch, Wirral. Robert was a farmer and they lived in Holt Hill, Wirral. When his father died, Robert inherited the family home, Grange House, in the Claughton- Tranmere part of Birkenhead. He also inherited the title interest and property of James' leasehold tenement in Eastham held by lease under Sir Rowland Stanley Bar.

Robert died in Grange House and was buried on the 28th October, 1794 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead. Elizabeth was buried with him on the 12th April, 1796.

MARY WALTON (JAMES1) married JOSEPH RENSHAW (RENSHALL), a Liverpool butcher and son of JOHN RENSHAW, on the 28th August, 1763 in Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool. She had a very short married life and died shortly after the birth of her son, James. She was buried on 26th May, 1768 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead.

After Mary's death, Joseph married SARAH RIVERS in Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool on the 3rd February, 1770. In 1781, Admon was taken out by 'Sarah Abbey late widow of Joseph Renshall deceased of Walton but now wife of the above bounden Robert Abbey of Walton' (described in bond as husbandman)

    SAMUEL WALTON (ROBERT2, JAMES1)was born in Grange House, Tranmere and was baptised on the 30th May, 1769 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead. He married ELIZABETH ARROWSMITH of Eastham on the 2nd January, 1798 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead, Wirral. Samuel, like his father and grandfather, was a farmer.

    Samuel died in Grange House, Tranmere and was buried on the 30th September, 1804 in St. Mary Parish Church, Birkenhead.
